ABBALLATI ABBALLATI SONG BY AMINE J. HACHEM
American-Lebanese Tenor Unites Mediterraneans in Song.
The American-Lebanese tenor, Amine J. Hachem, brings Mediterranean multiculturalism to life with a new twist on an old Italian folk song; “Abballati, Abballati” which means “Dance, Dance!” in the Sicilian dialect. So, listen, smile, sing—-and abballati with us!
Tenor Amine J. Hachem has been blessed with the gift of music. His birthplace is in the heart of the Mediterranean: Lebanon. He realizes that what most people from outside of our country see is their division. But he believes that they also have a rich Mediterranean multicultural tradition that needs to be seen, shared and enjoyed. And so, with his family, they embarked on a labor of love to embrace everyone in their community.
What you will see in this video is what he can give back to the world.
This video is shot in a documentary style, with no actors. Tenor Amine J. Hachem appears alongside his family, as well as people Hachem knows and don’t know that they’ve encountered in their travels: people who live and breathe the Mediterranean life, and people who are visiting from around the world. “What you will say after seeing this video is that we in Lebanon are one community.” Amine J. Hachem says.
The video was directed by his brother Andrew J. Hachem, and you can get a glimpse of his father John on the accordion.
